Seramic jumps into 2017 with the release of his bombastic new single ‘I Got You’, which doubles as the second offering from his forthcoming sophomore EP. This release also comes ahead of his next London headline show at Omeara on the 1st of March.
Lyrically, Seramic explains that the track addresses “always having someone’s back even if you part ways. It’s about being kind even if you lose someone.” He continues “It plays with your expectations a bit more than some previous tracks, you don’t quite know where the song is going, like an out of control lawn mower heading for the children.”
Seramic is the new project from Marcus Foster. Combining his visual and musical sensibilities, it’s an exciting space for him to blend his many musical influences into one place. Drawn to immediate, joyful rhythms and chest-swelling choruses, he combines his love of legendary singer-songwriters with fresh, piercing electronic sounds and experiments with the hip-hop approach of sampling. A sound that The Sunday Times has dubbed “Prince meets D’Angelo meets Tom Waits meets Joe Cocker”.
Foster intends “the music to be forward-thinking, to be present. The way I see it, I’m never going to make a better soul record than Sly and the Family Stone, or make a funk record that’s better than Funkadelic. The most important thing for any artist is embracing change.”
