Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
We’ve been great, excited for things to come! Lots of things in the works for the next few months.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Dover Road“?
We were really excited to premiere it recently with New Noise Magazine. It’s a really different track for us, and a new direction for the band musically. It’s a big departure from our previous releases, and something we’re really proud of.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
Andrew wrote the lyrics for “Dover Road.” When he was young his family went through a lot of hard times, and they’re finally in a good place. This song for him is reflecting back on those times and a reminder that things get better.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
We have plans for a video in the works, just not sure if it’s going to be for this track just yet.
The single comes off your new EP Morale – what’s the story behind the title?
A lot of the songs center around the themes of getting through hard times to get to a better place. We thought the name Morale strung those themes together well. It started as a working title and actually turned into a twitter joke while we were in the studio and it just stuck.
How was the recording and writing process?
It was awesome; we recorded with Adam Cichocki at Timber Studios in New Jersey. He really helped us take our songs to a new level that we’re very happy with, especially with our newest single “Dover Road”. Before we even made it to the studio, we had a really long writing process that really picked up in January 2016, now here we are almost a year later ready to finally share this EP with everyone.
What role does Bayside and TBS plays in your music?
They play a huge role for us, Taking Back Sunday especially. When the band first started that was all any of us aspired to be or listen to. We actually got to play with Bayside in April at Launch Music Conference and that was definitely a cool moment for us
What’s the morale of this album? Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?
This album to us signifies the band maturing and as we’ve grown as musicians the songs have grown with us. The songs are about the things we’ve gone through and how we’ve overcome them, which is all about growth.
Any plans to hit the road?
We just started our record release tour! We’re hitting the east coast from January 3rd to January 15th, ending with our hometown Record Release Show on January 20th on Long Island.
