INTERVIEW: Brooklyn

Hi Brooklyn, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hey thanks for having me… I’ve been great. Things are getting a little busy, but all good.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Cupid”?

My latest single ‘Cupid’ is about a relationship that turns very ugly and I’m basically getting at Cupid for hooking me up with a total cheating scumbag!

Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

The song was definitely inspired by an actual event, a guy in our circle cheated on my best friend, and what made it worse was the girl who he cheated with was also one of our good friends and also part of the same close circle.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

The video is done and will be coming out very soon. I had a lot of fun working on it, as it is the first thing I’ve ever co-directed I was definitely happy with how close to reality it was. I wanted to capture it as close to my memory as possible.

How was the recording and writing process?

I was very close to the situation, supporting her throughout the break up hearing her every raw emotion, her thoughts and insecurities definitely made it easier for me to write Cupid. Its actually a very detailed account tof some of the thoughts and feelings she was having.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

Yes for sure! I have a few more singles coming early next year and I will also be dropping my EP, which I’m super excited about. After that I will begin work on the album.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

No release date as yet for the EP but definitely sometime in the first quarter. As far as a title goes, I’ve narrowed it down to 2 options, so
that’s progress lol.

How dark can we expect this album to be?

I think the EP will have quite a mixed vibe. Cupid is probably the darkest of the lot lol.

Any plans to hit the road?

I will definitely be getting back out on the road. I’ve got a few festivals in the diary already and we are also planning my own tour which
will have a few guest performers – all will be announced via my socials in the New Year so make sure you look out for that.

What else is happening next in Brooklyn’s world?

At the moment my main focus is really on completing my EP and getting that out! I’ve been approached to write for other artists but It hasn’t really worked from a timing perspective as my focus has been on my own project but it is defo something I will be doing a lot more of. I’m just really grateful for everything happening right now so taking each day as it comes.
