Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
Whats up Vents! We are great and stoked to be here!
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Nothing To Lose”?
Yeah! It’s about dating a girl and finding out she’s a dirty, dirty slut. One that just can’t go a day without getting it from wherever she can.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
I caught my girlfriend of 3 years cheating on me with several dudes. Even though I had never been cheated on before, it turns out that shit happens all the time! I mean, it’s my fault, being in a band and all.
How was the film experience?
It was awesome. Rev. John Wheeler really made this come to life, and the actors and crew were all just on point. We have another video in the works with Wheeler and can’t wait for y’all to see it!
The single comes off your new album Jousthouse – what’s the story behind the title?
Jousting is just humorous and old school. We like to take a light attitude towards all of the seriousness going on these days. All of our songs are serious in subject matter but in the end you gotta let the hard times come and go as they will and not get too caught up in them.
How was the recording and writing process?
I started writing Jousthouse when I was out with my old band New Medicine. When we eventually split ways, I hit the studio with a bunch of friends and made it happen. James Harley and Dan Korneff were huge in making it sound the way it did.
What was it like to work with Arejay Hale and how did that relationship develop?
Arejay and I have been touring together since 2009. I’m pretty sure I toured with him on Halestorm’s first headlining tour, and several times after. Both being drummers, we hit it off and became great friends. Halestorm came through town while Jousthouse was being recorded and he came by and threw down on three songs with like no rehearsal and crushed it!
Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?
I had a bunch of hard shit going on in all sorts of areas of my life, professionally and personally that really fueled most of the material. I almost lost my mother in a traumatic surgery gone wrong and had a real sticky relationship happening. I had all of this energy built up and Jousthouse was the release.
Would this record work as a sneak peek to your new EP?
Yes and no. The new EP is definitely going to be rocking and we’re working with Harley and Korneff again, but we are recording it with a different, more live approach.
Any plans to hit the road?
Yes! Hopefully in the spring when the EP is released.
What else is happening next in Late Night Fights’ world?
We just shot a video for “Saving Face” and are hitting the studio next week!
