Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
“Hi! We’re great thanks! Thanks for having us!”
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Breathe”?
“Breathe is the first track we wrote after the cycle of our last EP release. We hadn’t written in a really long time and it all started out quite slowly. Once we had the chorus down I think we all got a bit more into the swing of things, I remember being really excited when it all started to come together! The track was a massive turning point, the line ‘It’s time to make a change and learn from our mistakes’ was all based around making a hard but necessary change in the band. We learnt a lot of lessons when releasing our debut EP and we felt like we were ready to up our game when writing again.”
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
“So, as you may or may not be aware, we’ve had a slight line-up change since the release of our last EP. The line-up change meant slightly different writing styles and ideas were brought to the table when writing and I think we have learnt a few things and grown as a band since that. We feel more mature individually and as a band and this was the first song we wrote that I think shows that.”
How was the film experience?
“Shooting for videos is always so much fun! This video has some really cool aspects and we loved shooting it so I hope being enjoy it as much as us!”
The single comes off your new EP Lesson Learnt – what’s the story behind the title?
“We decided on ‘Lesson Learnt’ as the EP title because I think the writing of this EP has been a lesson for us and we feel we’ve come a long way since the last EP.”
How was the recording and writing process?
“The writing process is always a blast! Either we’re all sat together developing on one person’s ideas or we come together in small groups and write. We all add our own little bits and ideas to our tracks which I think really helps us create a ‘sound’. The recording of the tracks was a great experience! The producer is so talented and such a laugh! Great to spend a couple of days hanging out in the studio and tracking. Always fun!”
What lessons did you learnt throughout the record? Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?
“We had been working on the EP for a while, fine tuning details. The final part is always the vocals and the majority of the vocals are written about everyday life, struggles in relationships, confidence and other problems the majority of us face in life.”
Any plans to hit the road?
“We are trying to book as many shows as possible for 2017 as we just love playing live shows! That’s what it’s all about for us! For updates on shows we’ve got booked you’ll have to head over to Facebook and give our page a like!”
What else is happening next in ELASEA’s world?
“We’re mainly just gearing up for this release and are hard at work making sure everything runs smoothly and effectively! Hopefully we’ll have some more big announcements in 2017 but you’ll have to wait and see…”
