INTERVIEW: BRIELLE VON HUGEL

HOW WOULD YOU CLASSIFY YOUR MUSIC?

Pop but I’m highly influenced by soul, jazz, r&b and rock too!

WHO ARE YOUR TOP 5 INFLUENCES?

Céline Dion, Adele, Tori Kelly, JoJo, Kelly Clarkson.

WHAT DO YOU WANT FANS TO TAKE FROM YOUR MUSIC?

The majority of my new music is written to empower and give fans self confidence to pursue their dreams. I want them to feel inspired to go after what they’re truly passionate about!

TELL US ABOUT YOUR NEW SONG, “NAKED”

Naked is about finally letting go of your doubts and truly being your raw, unique, beautiful self for the first time. Living freely as you are and as you’re supposed to be! Knowing that you are worthy enough to conquer it all!

WHAT DO YOU LOVE/LIKE THE LEAST ABOUT THE MUSIC BUSINESS? BEST CONCERT PERFORMANCE/ LIVE GIG?

I love that I feel most comfortable in the career that I chose. Makes me feel like myself! What I like least about the music business is the competition. I think more artist should be more supportive of each other. It’s a beautiful thing when that happens and people come together!

Best live gig so far would have to be the first show of this year’s #PMJTour (Postmodern Jukebox) in Rhode Island. The crowd was just electric and made me feel so welcomed and loved. I almost cried in the middle of my solo because I was so happy to be there.

HOW HAVE YOU EVOLVED OVER THE PAST 3 YEARS AS A MUSICIAN? WHO WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO WRITE/PERFORM WITH?

I have evolved immensely over the past 3 years as a musician. I’m still growing everyday- but I have definitely become a stronger writer and performer for sure. I’ve buckled down on my work ethics and have been hustling.

I would most like to write with Sia or Ryan Tedder.

I would like to perform with Céline Dion or Michael Bublé!

WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU?

My team and I are currently writing and recording an album to be released in the new year. I will also be heading on a few tours as well! Exciting things coming up!

WHAT WAS IT LIKE TO BE A FINALIST ON AMERICAN IDOL?

Mind-blowing. To experience something so huge at 16 years old is incredible. I learned so much about the music business and about myself– it definitely helped mold who I have become today.

It was a great learning experience and I gained some amazing friends from it that I still have to this day! Dreams come true. Work hard. Follow your passion.
