Christine Saadé has already achieved a significant amount of fame thanks to her musical, writing, and vocal talents, but “Get Together” will likely catapult her to another level. This rousing entry in the dance pop genre is a taste from her forthcoming EP HYSC? EP 1, but it isn’t the only musical gear Saadé has. It is clear that she has no trouble at all adapting to its demands. There’s no doubt that she wants her fans to dance but “Get Together” is also a song with a social conscience that never gets too heavy, but instead deliberates models itself as an anthem and hits all the necessary notes to make that work for them. It isn’t a simple-minded anthem either. Saadé asks important questions and urges the world to lift itself up without ever wagging its finger or coming off high-handed. Instead, her urging and impassioned plea that provides the song’s primary hook latches into the listener’s consciousness and pulls them along.
There’s more to the song than just her vocal and lyrical content. The musical arrangement is quite strong and has direct, dramatic qualities that match the intensity she brings to the song. She hits a high point with each chorus and the track is neatly demarcated into tight verses and hits some pretty high peaks. “Get Together” runs a little less than four minutes and feels astonishingly complete; much of this is due to its construction, but the composition’s individual parts fit together without any difficulty and the listening experience is as well rounded like all great songs are. The backing music generates a tremendous amount of energy even in the brief amount of time given to the song and it’s the sort of infectious energy that prods listeners to start moving.
The lyrical content is full of plain-spoken language and never gets too much in the audience’s face. Her words and phrases are pointed and show an unusual amount of understanding about human nature for the usual dance pop song. More often than not, songs in this genre content themselves dealing with only a narrowly defined spectrum of subjects. Christine Saadé isn’t going to confine herself. She is more than capable of bringing more to this style of music than just youthful exuberance or a carpe diem attitude. She brings the gusto of youth, but she also brings an abundance of musical talent and the determination to impose her own needs onto the genre that pushes its way through any headwinds resisting her onward charge.
“Get Together” is a marvelous addition to Christine Saadé’s growing discography and shows her continuing her wont for stretching the boundaries of her chosen form and never sound pretentious or self-involved while doing so. The production, undoubtedly influenced by collaborator and respected producer/DJ Twisted Dee, gives the track a great forum from which to get over with Saadé’s target audience. Anyone who loves challenging and invigorating dance pop will be entranced by this song.
