Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Feelin’ U”?
Yes, it’s a big track for us right now, it hit the 1M streams mark on Spotify last week plus that and more on the lyric video and is getting mad love on 4 continents ie. Europe, USA, Africa & The Carribean, so it’s set up nicely for 2017 when we drop our ‘Forward’ EP.
Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?
KickRaux has Jamaican roots and I Ras Kwame have Ghanaian roots. These roots led us to speaking on creating a production that utilised talents and sounds from them a few years ago and hence the flavour on ‘Feelin U’ and the vibe of our ‘Forward’ EP.
How was the film experience?
The single comes off your new album Forward – what’s the story behind the title?
It’s just about forward thinking in music based on a desire to create a mainstream sound bringing together strong influences in Dancehall & Reggae with HipHop, EDM and Afrobeats.
How was the recording and writing process?
Cool, the internet is a beautiful thing when it comes to international collaborations these days.
What did they brought up to the table?
Great creativity, energy and some sweet songwriting skills!
How has all these cultures have influence this record?
The beauty of the influences coming together is in the sound of our single Feelin U. We always believed the styles would complement each other as they’re kinda branches from the same tree.
Do you take a different approach when you are collaborating with someone else than when you are writing in your own?
Not really, a good song and a good vibe is the same regardless of who’s in the studio.
Any plans to hit the road?
Yes, definitely, look out for our dj sets internationally in 2017. We’ll definitely be touring some major US, UK and African cities early in the year, more spots over the summer once the album drops in April.
What else is happening next in Ras Kwame and KickRaux’s world?
Work! Putting the finishing touches to our debut album ‘Forward’!
