Hi Alice, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

I’m really good thank you!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Shot You Down”?

So shot you down is my new single 🙂 It. Feels like I wrote it and worked on it a life time ago! So I’m so excited people can finally hear it!

-Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

I kind of wrote this song about more of a generalised experience that all girls go through at some point or other in their lives! I think a lot of people will relate to the lyrics and can link it back to a situation they’ve been in!

– How was the film experience?

Filming the video was really cool! We were gonna film in on a different day originally but last minute decided to delay it by a couple of days and we ended up shooting on the hottest day of the year! It was a really fun video to film as I was filming alongside 2 amazing girls who were in the video so we just had a laugh and we ended up at some really cool locations!

– How was the recording and writing process?

It was exactly what you said . A process. The song went through so many stages and a couple of different chorus’s untill we were completely happy with it!

-What was it like to work with Lipso D and how did that relationship develop?

I met lipso back in 2009 and we have been working together ever since. Launched our YouTube channel 7 years ago and have worked on pretty much every gig / project and single since! I am in love with his music and the way he writes so I can’t see a time where we ever dont work together .

– How much did he get to influence the album?

Absolutely loads!! It was such an equal and exciting project to work on together ! We wrote different sections of the song seperately but in the same session and in the same room to the same instrumental that he had created earlier !  So everything just kind of clicked but we both brought our ideas to the table! He is so insanely talented  at taking a chorus idea I’ve written and switching it up sampling it and making it so catchy! The best part is is the song that was released is a 100 miles apart from the 1st instrumental he made for us to write too! I love it when that happens!

-What role does Major Lazer plays in your music?

I love major Lazer ! I was massively influenced by Major Lazer and Mø
When they collaborated together! I love the energy he brings ! Lean on is literally one of my favorite songs !

-Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

Yes we are currently writing new music at the moment! 3 songs in particuler are standing out to me as the

-Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Haha nothing official yet! I never name my songs untill they are on the verge of being released anyway! That’s because we are constantly making changes right up until the last minute !

– Any plans to hit the road?

I would love to. But don’t have concrete plans yet. Just mainly London based live shows for the moment and hopefully a couple of festivals next year!

– What else is happening next in Alice Olivia’s world?

Just promoting the last single , writing new material, end of year gigs and hopefully loads of food and films  at Christmas!
