Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
Great! Things are going really well.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Are You With Me”?
The single is the first off of our upcoming album ‘Rectifier’ which will be out March 4th 2017.
Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?
We had a tough year with a bad management deal and things seemed to be falling apart around us. The song was more of a rallying cry to get things back on track.
How was the film experience?
Amazing! Working with positive minded and talented people is always fantastic. We rocked our faces off and had a good time.
The single comes off your new album Rectifier – what’s the story behind the title?
Rectifier is about everything that went on for slightly more than a year. Through these songs we tell the story and are inevitably rectifying the situation.
How was the recording and writing process?
The writing process is always a great time to be creative and let emotions out through the music. Getting into the studio to bring them to life is the payoff for us after all the work. It’s why artists are so anxious to have their material released to their fans.
What was it like to work with Damon de Szegheo and how did that relationship develop?
We worked with Damon on the last EP and developed a great rapport with him. He approached us to collaborate on this album and we definitely appreciate the support and encouragement we get from him.
How much did he get to influence the album?
He’s a part of the team, our fifth member. It’s definitely a collaborative effort.
What role does Toronto plays in your music?
It’s home for us so we live and breath the city on a daily basis. It’s hard not to be influenced by your surroundings wherever you are.
Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?
I think this album was more personal because of the emotion attached to what we were going through. The songs all have something to do with that side of the story and Rectifier is our way of telling it.
Any plans to hit the road?
Oh yeah! We’re in the middle of the first leg of our tour supporting the new single and the upcoming album release. Next year is already in the planning stages and it looks like we will only get busier.
