Local music blog Spark & Fizz is releasing a compilation of recent music from the greater Boston area to fundraise for Garfield Middle School’s rock ensemble. The compilation, titled Revere Rock City, comes out November 13th and all proceeds go toward new instruments for the rock ensemble.
Rock ensemble teacher, Eric Bolton, supplied Spark & Fizz with a short list of what the program needs most pressingly. The total cost is less than $2000. The district can’t provide this money, but the music blog feels confident they can meet the mark. Bolton said,
In Revere the kids are as capable as in any school district. The main issue is that most of the kids live in apartment buildings and multi-family houses, so they have limited options to play music at home. The main thing I can do for them is to create an opportunity to learn music, play with a group. Getting instruments and building our program would provide them with that opportunity.
The release will be celebrated Sunday, November 13th with an afternoon acoustic performance at Arts at the Armory, featuring bands on the compilation and young music students from Garfield Middle School and Boston’s Zumix.
