Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Anybody Out There”?
Certainly. Anybody Out There is the lead track on my new EP, Danger Moose. It’s a track that’s both ‘rocky’ and ‘dancey’ with the message; ‘don’t wait for something to happen, make it happen!’
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
There wasn’t one particular event, it was more the ongoing observation of people saying they’ll start their dreams tomorrow, but tomorrow usually never comes. It’s like they’re waiting for their dreams to just magically drop in their hands. Unfortunately, life doesn’t normally work out that way.
Any plans to release a video for the single or EP tracks?
There is no plan to release a video for Anybody Out There, but a video has been released for the second track on the EP, Cage The Circus. The music video includes an animal flashmob through a city centre!
The single comes off your new EP Danger Moose – what’s the story behind the title?
I had a road trip through Scandinavia with a mate of mine from Canada. His actual second name is ‘Danger’ and people normally refer to him as Danger. During the road trip we had a few random encounters with Moose and it became a bit of a trip theme.
Somehow through weeks of travelling and mile after mile of Scandinavian forest, I earned the nickname ‘Moose’. So we became collectively known as Danger and Moose.
I named the EP after that trip, as that trip was the moment where I thought, ‘I’m going to drop everything else and give music a proper shot’.
What role did your European experiences and work play in the creative process?
I wrote a lot of the songs in mainland Europe. I guess that everything around me was influencing me, if you were to change the surroundings I would have come out with a completely different set of songs.
Any plans to hit the road?
There are always plans to hit the road! I’ll be playing quite a lot in Germany, as the Germans seem to like my stuff. I’ve also got a small Austria-Switzerland tour planned for summer 2017, followed by a UK tour in autumn 2017.
What else is happening next in Inkfields’ world?
I’ll be back in the studio in the spring to record a new EP which will display my more alternative, weird and creative side. I’ve also got a few music video projects coming up, one of which my team believes to be a world first! I would love to tell you, but I have to keep it secret until it’s ready!
