Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

We’ve been awesome! Just very busy with shows, getting these releases ready, and getting ready for the studio again here shortly. It’s a very exciting time for us right now and it has been an incredible year! It’s been really fun.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Oivine”?

Olivine is our first single and video off of our self-titled EP. It’s a song we all really love and is so fun to play live. We decided to release this one first because it’s a sing-along song. It’s probably the tamest song on the EP but has a driving, epic ending.

Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

Yes! Bryant (the lead singer) wrote the song on his honeymoon in Mykonos. That place really changes you and your perspective. He would love to go back!

How was the film experience?

The filming was amazing! Except for the fact that we were in a warehouse with no a/c in the middle of a Phoenix  summer. It was our first filming of a video and and we couldn’t be prouder of it or happier with the way it turned out. Our director, Jack Chapman of Red Knight Media, is a genius. He had the vision for the video and nailed it. None of us really know how he made made us look that good but he did. That’s the most impressive part.

How was the recording and writing process?

It was great. We all work so well together and kind of feed off of each other. We recorded the EP with Cory Spots at Blue Light in Phoenix, AZ and he has become a close friend, basically the 5th member of the band. It’s a lot of fun going into the studio with him and he makes us sound amazing. We can all have fun but get the work done as well.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

Yes! We have another single coming out very shortly. The EP will be released mid-December, and we’re actually heading back into the studio in a week to start recording our next project. We suggest you check out the Olivine single now though and tell all your friends!

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

We are playing our release show on December 15th at The Rebel Lounge in Phoenix. We’re going the self-titled route for this first EP. It’s a little unorthodox to have a self-titled EP, but we think our cover art of a sun barely peaking through the morning was appropriate for the first release and gets the message across. Something new and exciting…

How inspiring can we expect this album to be?

We think it’ll be very inspiring. It’s a fresh sound with booming melodies and vocals. We hope people like it and can find their own meaning in the lyrics and find ways to connect with each song in a different way.

What message are you looking to convey with this new record?

Since this is our freshman record, we are looking to make a wave with it. Hopefully, make people take notice. There really isn’t one single message we are trying to get across and yet the songs still sound cohesive. The songs were written throughout different time periods. We were going through different things in life. We mostly want to catch attention with some really original music.

Any plans to hit the road?

Yes! Hopefully in the near future. We’ll probably start out doing a West Coast run and move our way across the country after that. Next year will be a very busy year!

What else is happening next in EL WEST’s world?

Like we mentioned before, we’re heading back into the studio in a week and are so excited! We can’t wait to start recording our new music. Be sure to keep an eye out for more songs and a new video in the up-coming year. Other than that, we have been playing lots of shows!
