INTERVIEW: Addeboy vs Cliff

Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hello. we’re great! How are you?

Can you talk to us more about your latest single ”Phoenix”?

Yes, we made the track during a project together with Toontrack. We have been producing a drum expansion pack for one of their products and this song was a part of the product release.

So many of the drum sounds in Phoenix you can also find in the ”Dreampop” ezx for EZ drummer 2.

We wrote the song together with Janne Kask, who is also singing on this one.

We like it!

Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

The track have kind of been going through a lot of stages over a long period of time. But we definitely got inspired when the drumpack thing was coming together.

How was the film experience?

It was chilled out. We didn’t do anything.

How was the recording and writing process?

Yes. It was a lot of different stages with different lyrics and ideas. But when Janne finally came up with the verses it all came together pretty quick. The chorus was there since way back.

For us it seems like the songs get better when we take longer time to make them. Sometimes years!

Do you take a different approach when you are collaborating with someone else than when you are writing your own material?

We are mostly collaborating all the time so that’s kind of the only mode we have.

It’s much different when we are producing others though. Then it’s often much more people to please, and we can’t decide ourselves as much.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

Yes, we hope so! We have quite a lot on our working desk. Excited to see what can come out of all that.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Nope.

Any plans to hit the road?

Not yet. but maybe next year!

What else is happening next in addeboy vs cliff’s world?

Some radio show gig in sweden, and new songs.
