Hello VENTS, thank you for having me! I’m doing very well and truly enjoying the autumn season in London, which inspires me to write more music.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Mad For You”?
My latest single “Mad For You” is an electro-pop song with a great dance vibe to it. The story of the song is about unexpected feelings and emotions you never see coming until it hits you. Three words that would best describe “Mad For You” are longing, distance and passion. It’s collaboration with Latvian producer MKR (Makree), which we recorded and produced in the beginning of September, however, I composed the song acoustically on piano earlier this year in my home in London.
Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?
Yes, definitely! I tend to write based on my experiences and what I feel, so usually the best stories for me are the ones that are easy to write. Talking about “Mad For You”, I was very inspired to write lyrics for this song in late December 2015 when I met someone incredibly inspiring and this person showed me the world from a different perspective and encouraged me to live more fully.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
We were thinking of releasing a video for Mad For You but it is not confirmed yet.
How was the recording and writing process?
The whole process of writing and recording “Mad For You” was really fun, I got to travel to Riga to meet up with Makree (MKR) and work in the studio. The recording process was smooth and we finished the song very fast, as we both knew our roles in the creation process.
What was it like to work with MKR and how did that relationship develop?
I have to say, Makree (MKR) is a very talented young producer and I was happy that he agreed collaborating with me on “Mad For You”. He perfectly understood the vision of how I wanted the song to be and delivered that. I’d be very happy and willing to work with him on other projects in the near future.
How much did he get to influence the album?
Obviously, the production of this single release has a significant role; it’s everything – the vibe, the sound, color and the feel of it.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
Absolutely! I’m currently working on a new release with a UK-based producer here in London and also writing new music together with a songwriter/guitarist in my band. It is going very well so far, and you can expect new material from me in the next couple of weeks.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
Before the end of this year there should be at least two new singles coming out. I will definitely keep you updated on this.
Any plans to hit the road?
Yes, definitely! I’m playing in London very soon in November, also hoping to perform in Riga and visit more cities in Europe next year.
What else is happening next in Eliza’s world?
I’m very excited to play a set at L’Escargot’s Salon Noirin Soho on 8th November and keep working on my new material. There is always a room to grow and am so grateful to be surrounded by so many talented people every day and those who support me.
