Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
Hi! Thanks for having us. We’re doing great- thanks for asking.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Runnin’ Into You”?
Runnin’ was a song we’d had lying around for a while and just never had the chance to record. As soon as we made plans to record, “Games We Play”, we knew we wanted that to be the first song we did- and to our surprise, it turned out even better than we ever dreamed it would.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
Well, the song is mostly about running into an ex, in one way or another, everywhere you go. Considering we’re each other’s Ex’s, we had a lot of good experience to pull from! Haha
How was the filming of the video?
The video was a lot of fun to film. We each got to do a little bit of acting, we got to bring a few of our friends into the mix as actors, and our friend Seth Graves shot/directed the whole thing- so, yeah, we basically got to spend the whole day hanging out with our friends. That’s a hard day to beat.
The single comes off your new album Games We Play – what’s the story behind the title?
“Games We Play”, is a line from another called, “Messed Up”. After hearing the EP, from start to finish, that line just kind of stood out and sounded like a good title for the project.
What “games” did you get to explore on this record?
Steevie loves to dig deep into vocals when we record and watching her layer and weave parts together almost seems like a game from an outside perspective. We recorded with our good friend/producer, Evan Hutchings, who is super-talented and one of the more creative guys in the studio that either of us have met- thankfully he let her take all the creative freedom she wanted.
What was the recording and writing process like?
The process can be a lot like a rollercoaster at times, honestly! We have moments where we’re both arguing over a line or a melody and then we’ll have those magic moments where we’re crying happy tears because something hit us “just right”. Although it’s not always easy, it’s always fun, because we’re both constantly fighting for what’s best for the song- because, at the end of the day, that’s the only thing that really matters.
How has Nashville influenced you as artists?
Nashville is great because there is never a lack of inspiration or friendly sense of competition. This city, and the people in it, make you wanna work harder than you ever knew you could- and hopefully- become the artist you always dreamed you would.
Any plans to hit the road?
Yes! We can’t wait!
What else is happening next in TOWNE’s world?
Well, among a million other things, we just finished shooting a video for “The One I Love” earlier this week with Justin Clough (Brother’s Osborne “21 Summer”) that we SUPER EXCITEDDDD about and we can’t wait for everyone to see!
