We are great thanks, excited to be be producing our album now after being on the road all summer long and intense days & nights in the studio but it is feeling good.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Ruckus”?
We wanted to build on the ‘wide screen’ and ‘desert rock meets electronica’ of the track Disarray we already recorded with Richard Judge for Suara last year.
So we built a similar vibe with the beats and guitars and Richard wrote a cool top line for it and tried to make it more of a big festival type track.
It certainly proved to be that when we road tested it at the summer festival shows both in Europe and America.
But since it’s release it is proving to be a big club track too #1 on Beatport again for us! It is also the first proper single from the Album so it sets the tone nicely.
Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?
I would like to say that me Berger and Richard go out drinking and fighting all the time and ‘Ruckus’ is in homage to that… but it’s not true!
We are more family guys these days though Richard flies the flag for Rock N Roll debauchery as he’s younger.
But as I said previously, we wanted a ‘call to arms’ festival banger and ‘Ruckus’ is a good English word that brings that feeling.
How was the film experience?
We shot the video over our debut live tour in March & April so it captures the excitement and total nervousness of that crazy week.
Me and Berger had not played ‘live live’ since our punk band 15 years ago so it was all a bit mental We stressed out but we hugely enjoyed it and we cannot wait to bring the Ruckus and more on more Live shows next year in support of the Album.
How was the recording and writing process?
It is easy with Richard as he’s so super talented as a guitarist and singer and writer. Beers, normal and funny cigarettes in the studio all together seems to be the way for us three to work.
What was it like to work with Richard Judge and why did you call him back for this single in particular?
As I said he is very talented and we predict a big solo career for him. He nailed Disarray so we thought let’s keep going with the guy.
He has also written some more with us so there maybe more tracks to come out of this collaboration. Also, he loves playing live so he is part of our live shows too.
That is really important as the fans can see & hear the actual singer of the song rather than a vocal loop or the wrong guy!
And I have to say he is a top man, always positive, good fun and a party machine, like we used to be lol!
How much did he get to influence the song?
Total collaboration but as a native English speaker he wrote the lyrics. We all felt the Ruckus creative idea though.
What role does Germany plays in your music?
Well we have a secret Schlager project we are going to unveil soon and we always wear lederhosen in the studio! Seriously… then I guess we are products of the German electronic music scene and have those influences but I guess we are a little bit different as unlike most German electronic artists our Techno is well hidden! But me &Berger are rockers at heart too Punk, Indie, Psychedelia, Metal even and good music has no country boundaries man, peace!
Does your approach tend to change depending the label?
Of course but we are always Tube & Berger first and foremost. For Kittball and Suara and Toolroom etc we might make more Beatport club tracks (well not really lol) and for Embassy of Music we are making our artist album that will have all our musical influences in there.
But as I said we are Tube & Berger and our particular individual vibe is always in every track we make I think.
How’s your new album coming along?
Good now we have some proper time to spend in the studio and demos being produced every day. It is going to be a mix of club electronics, indie rock, down tempo beats, hip hop, psychedelia and the desert blues! With some dope singers and musicians involved. Be excited. Very excited.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
Release date is set for Spring 2017. I believe we are still working on an album title, there are some strong ideas that we need to keep mulling over. But close!
What else is happening next in Tube & Berger‘s world?
We are going to promote the shit out of this album by going on a world tour so lots of preparation for our live shows, as along with lots of djing still, we will be playing live shows with the band too, so a lot lot going on!
