Paralympian Marc Powell to host RNIB concert

Having hosted the SEE THROUGH SOUND launch event earlier this year (watch video HERE) Marc is looking forward to taking to the stage on Friday saying “’I’m delighted to be hosting RNIB’s inaugural music event, SEE THROUGH SOUND. To have the support of such a brilliant line-up for a charity which means so much to me, my family and so many others is fantastic. I can’t wait to tackle this challenge and bring a further bit of sparkle to the evening.”

Marc Powell is a visually impaired Paralympian from Liverpool who comes from a family of Judo players. Now working at the RNIB as Corporate Partnerships Officer, Marc has dedicated his career to making a difference and ending the awkwardness surrounding blind and partially sighted people. Marc has featured on a number of TV shows such as Deal Or No Deal and The School of Hard Knocks.

Taking place at Cadogan Hall in London on Friday 14th October 2016, SEE THROUGH SOUND will feature live performances from Badly Drawn Boy, Newton Faulkner, Doc Brown, Kevin Simm, Vaults and Andy Jordan. To accompany the fantastic auditory experience, audience members will be given ‘sim specs’ (glasses simulating sight loss), providing an insight into living with sight loss and creating a unique atmosphere for concert-goers and artists alike.

Wanda Hamilton, RNIB Group Director of Fundraising, said: “RNIB’s SEE THROUGH SOUND aims to both entertain and educate music fans, providing them with the opportunity to experience live music in a whole new way. This concert will support us in achieving our goal of making every day better for the more than two million people living with sight loss across the UK.”
