There are few new artists that offer stronger soulful croons than Alex Vargas’, who is gearing-up to release his debut album early next year. In the build-up to this record, you can hear the singer-songwriter-producer’s latest single “Higher Love” which displays all the vocal peaks DIY Magazine called “Spine-tingling” & bare, skeletal guitar chords that won much of the blogosphere over previous offering “Shackled Up.” This song, like the last is available on Copenhagen Records. “Higher Love is about those moments where turmoil created by routines and predictability in everyday life” explains Vargas, continuing “it plants seeds of insecurity in the ground beneath, but that thought of giving up quickly evaporates when you remember how closely you are bound.”
Vargas, who works collaboratively on the project with Tommy Sheen, both on the recordings & live side of things, have seen their lives become extremely busy this year with no less than sixty shows, whilst also topping his home country’s iTunes chart with his last EP, Giving Up The Ghost. The build-up to the LP’s release has seen much of Europe’s key tastemaker radio stations, ranging from 3fm in Holland, SWR3 & NDR2 in Germany to P3 in Denmark, fully back the London-via Denmark newcomer.
