Kevin Simm To Play London Gig For RNIB

The Voice 2016 winner Kevin Simm will be previewing tracks from his debut solo album Recover when he performs in London at the SEE THROUGH SOUND concert in aid of RNIB (Royal National Institute of Blind People).

For his only announced live performance Kevin will be joining a line-up that includes Newton Faulkner and Badly Drawn Boy at a concert with a difference – audience members will be given ‘sim specs’ (glasses simulating sight loss) to provide an insight into living, and experiencing live music, with sight loss.

Kevin Simm’s reason for performing at the event is personal, as he explains: “the fact that sight has never been an issue for me has most definitely made me take it for granted and only since my son had to start wearing quite heavy prescription glasses did I really stop and think how lucky I am.”

Recover will be released on 28 October via Universal Music. New single Wildfire, co-written with multi-million selling songwriter Ed Drewett (One Direction, Olly Murs and Craig David) and produced by Matty Benbrook (Paolo Nutini) can be listened to here  Watch an acoustic performance of ‘Wildfire’ here

Badly Drawn Boy’s appearance will follow last year’s UK tour which marked the 15th anniversary of his Mercury-prize winning album, ‘The Hour of Bewilderbeast’. Speaking about performing at the concert Damon Gough, better known as Badly Drawn Boy, said “I’m truly delighted to be playing at SEE THROUGH SOUND. Most of us take our sight for granted, this is an opportunity to understand a perspective on sound from people with limited or no vision.”

Newton Faulkner, who performed at the launch event earlier this year, while wearing ‘sim specs’, said “my last performance with the RNIB has really stayed with me and I’m looking forward to being involved with another great event for a very important charity. The experience of playing even one song with sight impairing glasses on is one that will stay with me forever.” Newton Faulkner released his fifth album Human Love in 2015 and has just completed a run in the hit punk musical American Idiot, which has won seven ‘What’s On Stage’ awards.
