INTERVIEW: Kid Bookie

Hi Kid, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Partially great, partially wonderful, can’t complain with being alive.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Premonition”?

Yes, I can. It’s a nice rhythmic R’n B/Hip-Hop kinda fusion, with 3 ferocious MOTHER FUCKING verses that will wake your nana up from her sleeping grave, don’t play it around kids to, because they end up alcoholics by the age of 15.

Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song? –

Premonitions of the future and as I say in the beginning of the verse, I believe i’m “coming of age”, which is a contrast to waking up, consciously.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

God damn, has it really been slept on?! No I have no plans to release the video, but what you can do is have a premonition of the future where the video will be on YouTube by the time you start typing in ‘Kid Bookie – Premonition w/ Christie Ft. Nasaan & Dot Rotten [Official Video]

The single comes off your new album You’ll Rate Me When I Am Dead – what’s the story behind the title?

When people in our industry die, everybody wants to make them famous for the week and tell the world how much they was behind them and they was next, I believe this concept fits into that reality quite well, RIP Depz, Escobar & N.E.

How was the recording and writing process?

A beautiful experience, one similar to childbirth.

What was it like to work with Nasaan and Dot Rotten? How did those relationships develop?

Dot Rotten, we’ve worked together for 10 years, if you know Kid Bookie you know he doesn’t really venture out to tough from his normal group (talking in 3rd person like I’m insane) and Nasaan, I wouldn’t of known him without social media, so thank the heavens I created a twitter right?

How much did he get to influence the album?

I’m not sure what this question means but I gave them both a mars bar and chupa chup lolly and they was both instantly compelled to start working with me.

Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?

The beat, the drum pattern in the beat goes dum dum dum dum dum, so I literally followed the beat in dum dum dum pattern, if you get what I mean.

Any plans to hit the road?

Man’s always on the roads you get me? Na, book me and i’ll be everywhere I can, just please make sure i’m not staying in a travelodge or Premier Inn, I beg you.

What else is happening next in Kid Bookie’s world?

The manifestation of the future, universal law, put in and you will get out, so i’m gonna keep putting in and going against the nature of my CD’s name as I genuinely DO NOT want you to rate me just because I die, but appreciate me whilst I exist. Thank you.
