A: We’ve been great since our last tour in Canada. Busy writing and playing shows back home in Australia. We were lucky enough to play two shows with our buddies Billy Talent on their recent tour!
Q: Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Howling Woman”?
A: It’s the last single off our current record, it was recorded in New York. It was going to be our first single but we ended up writing two songs with Ian D’sa from Billy Talent and they became our first two releases.
Q: Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
A: Suzi is a flight attendant on our long haul flight from Sydney to LA, she’s the prettiest damn girl you’ll ever see.
Q: How was the recording and writing process?
A: We recorded this song in New York at the Boiler Room with Gus Van Go and Werner F. We were over there for about 2 months. The writing process was just the usual, sitting around in a room with guitars, a couple of beers and some laughs.
Q: What was filming the music video like?
A: It was such an awesome experience! To be on Sydney harbour in perfect weather shooting a clip on a boat, we couldn’t of asked for more. We had the famous ferries beeping their horns and driving to get into the shots, people waving and yelling, it was quite surreal. The idea was to pay homage to AC/DC and their film clip for ‘A Long Way To The Top’ where they were on the back of a truck heading down Swanson Street in Melbourne.
Q: Does the new single mean we can expect more new material – how’s that coming along?
A: The new single will be the final release off our current album, we have been writing a lot of new material and everything is sounding great. We are heading into the studio to record our next album with Gggarth Richardson in Vancouver in October!
Q: Any tentative release date or title in mind?
A: The release will be sometime early next year.
Q: How are you preparing for your upcoming tour?
A: We’ve got some new songs that we have been writing and rehearsing. We’ll be trying them out live. You can check out our Canadian tour dates here www.thelazysmusic.com.
Q: What are you looking forward to the most?
A: Playing gigs. Seeing friends. Drinking beer. Just looking forward to getting back. We love it here.
Q: Do you tend to change your set and performances depending if you are playing home or oversea?
A: Not really. We give it our best every night. Our performances do vary slightly. We like to improvise.
Q: What can fans expect?
A: Always a hard and in your face rock n roll show. We like to have fun and love playing live, so we hope the fans enjoy it as much as we do.
Q: What else is happening next in The Lazys’ world?
A: We are heading into the studio straight after our tour to record our next album. We’re really pumped to do a whole record with Garth. We recorded two tracks with him in 2014 and that experience was incredible, doing a whole album together is going to be insane!
