PAPA To Release “Kick At The Dust” Sept 16. Album Streaming Now

The Los Angeles-based PAPA will be released their new album Kick At The Dust on September 16 via Hit City U.S.A.  Beginning today the album is streaming via Consequence Of Sound who said, “Kick at the Dust is the result of quirkier, not-so-vanilla indie rock experimentation – something PAPA not only were drawn to as a result of their career thus far, but felt was necessary to the existence of the band.””

PAPA have two more dates left of their Los Angeles residency with free shows at The Bootleg Theatertonight (Sept. 9) and next Friday, Sept. 16. October sees the band touring the US with dates that kick off Oct. 17 in Santa Barbara, CA at Soho and conclude Nov. 2 at The Fly Catcher in Tucson, AZ.   The band are also playing in London on Sept. 29 with Alexandra Savior at The Courtyard. Of the live set Grimy Goods recently noted PAPA are “well known for their performances full of dizzying carnal energy and we dig their mash up sound which features everything from Dylan-esque Americana, feverish punk rock attitudes and soulful rhythm & blues.”  All dates are listed below.

Leading to the release of Kick At The Dust PAPA have shared “Rain More,” “Comfort’s A Killer,” as well as the album’s lead track “Hold On.”

Kick At The Dust is the LA-based PAPA’s second full-length and marks a return to the Hit City U.S.A. label who released the band’s first EP in 2011.  The duo is comprised of childhood friends Darren Weiss and bassist Danny Presant.  Over the past five years PAPA has seen the ins and outs (and ups and downs) of the entertainment industry – having gone from D.I.Y. to the major leagues with varying woes and successes throughout. Kick In The Dust is the end of that road and the start of the next.  With the album they testify that the ideas of “success” mean very little within a system built for a product rather than an artist.  As Weiss told NoiseySeems to me that if you work hard enough for security and comfort in this life, you might get it. But after you do, you’ll probably look around, cross eyed with boredom and say, ‘What for?’ When a shark stops swimming forward it’s dead. Same goes for artists. And I ain’t no shark, man.
