48 hours after picking up the ‘Best Mixtape’ award for ‘In Skengs We Trust’ at the K.A & GRM Daily Rated Awards, the original UK Drillaz, ‘67’ release brand new mixtape ‘Lets Lurk’ and it has soared straight to No.1 in the iTunes Hip Hop chart.
Fans got an early taste of lead single ‘5am Vamping’ following its audio premiere via iD last month – https://i-d.vice.com/en_gb/article/premiere-67-5am-vamping and hours ahead of the mixtape release last night, Complex UK premiered their mini movie for the record, following the south Londoners on a journey from their recent live set at Boiler Room down to the Tate Britain and around their hometown, Brixton Hill.
Released in early 2016, street anthem, ‘Let’s Lurk’, featuring rap lord Giggs (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f10yTpZzuv4), provided the title and the first insight to the 18-track tape. Highly supported ‘Traumatized’ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4PyqFHYYZo) is also found lurking on the tracklist and now 67 unleash a tsunami of previously unheard audio that are set to make ‘Lets Lurk’ a future classic.
Known as one of the rawest crews in UK rap, the south Londoners have become infamous in a shortspace of time, gatecrashing UK music’s commercial landscape and gaining a mass following online. Compared to the likes of Section Boyz and Stormzy due to the similarities of their rapid ascents in to the media, that is where the similarities end and the authenticity of 67 shines through.
Groundbreaking in every move that they’ve made so far, ‘Lets Lurk’ makes an equally impressive claim for major celebration.
