Their beautifully evocative and much revered pop classics continue to excite audiences and, as one of the best live bands the UK has ever produced, Squeeze are also the perfect festival band.
Which is why it’s so special they have asked fellow South Londoners the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Choir to perform with them at this weekend’s OnBlackheath Festival.
With both already booked to perform at the festival, now in its third year, it seemed a perfect opportunity for some local camaraderie, tying as it does the South London boroughs of Deptford, Lewisham, Greenwich, Blackheath nicely together.
Glenn Tilbrook from Squeeze; “It’s very humbling and amazing to work with a bunch of dedicated professionals who I admire so much and whose spare time gig as a choir is completely inspirational. We are so looking forward to working together on our mutual home turf.”
Caroline Harbord, Choir member and physiotherapist; “We were all really excited to be asked to perform at OnBlackheath, as the line-up is fantastic and it is a local event for Lewisham & Greenwich Trust. We were particularly pleased to see Squeeze were performing, and were thrilled to be asked to sing with them, as quite a few of the Choir are longterm fans of the band! Rehearsing with them was a really joyous and unforgettable experience, as they are such a lovely, supportive and down to earth group of musicians. We can’t wait to perform with them.”
