Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hey thanks! Good to be talkin to ya! All good here thanks.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Anybody”?

Anybody is just one of those songs that came out of [frontman] Ben’s room one day and we were all hooked. He pretty much had a full demo tracked out and then we took all of the original ideas and expanded on them, making it the song it is today. It is a good first single because it definitely conveys the vibe of the record as a whole.

Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

I wouldn’t say any particular event inspired it more so than anything other song.. It kind of was one of those things where I just sat down and had an idea and demoed it out in like two hours and sent it to the guys.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

I don’t wanna give too much away but one of the two singles may or may not have a video coming soon…!

The single comes off your new EP Is There Anybody Out There? – what’s the story behind the title?

The album title comes from the chorus of the first single (“Anybody”). This record is a lot darker than those previous and we wanted a title that conveyed that.

How was the recording and writing process?

What was cool about writing this record is that we did it completely ourselves. All in house. We went up to a cabin for a week to write. We tracked everything in our bedrooms and basements. We have always worked with a producer in the past so we tasked ourselves with putting together an EP completely on our own. And we are really stoked with the turnout. There’s a lot of talent in this band and it definitely shines through all of the work we put in to do this ourselves.

What role does Colorado plays in your music?

We all grew up in Colorado and don’t really have plans of leaving anytime soon. We’re all skiers/boarders, we mountain bike, hike, camp, etc. We embrace the Colorado life so naturally there’s a lot of inspiration that comes from these experiences. The reason we went up to the cabin to write this record was to get away from the city and be in the Colorado beauty and let that inspire us.

What draw you to write all these dark lyrics?

I think you know everyone has their struggles and I guess at that time in my life it kind of just spilled out of me but we just looked at what we had and were like this is super dark but I think people will really be able to connect with this stuff..

What hard times get to inspire the lyrics on this record?

I think just the daily struggle of feeling alone or lost or unsure. Everybody experiences these things at some point and I can’t tell you exactly what I write about but I will say this is the most honest writing we’ve released yet.

Any plans to hit the road?

We’d love to do another tour here soon, for sure. Right now we are focusing on some shows regionally where we have the largest fan base as our “CD release shows”. After that we will honestly probably start writing and pre production again. We wanna be constantly releasing new music. But some tours are definitely a possibility late this year and next year.

What else is happening next in Redlands’ world?

Ski season is coming up. The Redlands world will be all over the ski slopes… and in the studio!
