Peter Wise Releases “Sweet Solitude”

Brooklyn-based pop-soul artist, Peter Wise, just released his debut music video for his single “Sweet Solitude” via Earmilk! Fans can check it out now, HERE. Wise premiered “Sweet Solitude” exclusively on Surviving The Golden Age at the start of the summer and the song was positively received. This was the first track from his upcoming EP, slated for release this Fall.

“‘Sweet Solitude’ is a song about the desperation at the end of a relationship, when you know a relationship has run its course but you are holding on to what was. I really tried to draw on great soul singers like Ray Charles and Marvin Gaye to create a gospel inspired sound and longing mixed with desire. Artists like the aforementioned, D’Angelo, Prince, and Miguel are big inspirations for this record. It’s really a song about facing reality, coming to terms with finality, in whatever form that takes.” explains Wise. “I was up late one night and couldn’t sleep when the idea for the Sweet Solitude video came to me, and I spent the next couple of hours writing out the concept.  It’s basically a depiction of the forces that drive two people apart.  We had a three day window to shoot the entire video and get everyone’s schedules aligned, but fortunately everything came together and we were able to pull it off.”

Peter Wise will be celebrating his record release at Bowery Electric. Doors will be at 8pm and he will be hitting the stage at 10pm with support from Prints of Monaco as well as Kamilah earlier in the night.

Earlier this month, Wise premiered his second single “Denial” on Pancakes And Whiskey. Wise said: “’Denial’ is a song about the push and pull of a relationship on the ropes, two people who can live with each other and can’t live without.  The end of the hook, ‘‘Cause life’s too short to be alone in the wild, we’re in denial’, is really the crux of the song, the fear of being alone. I thought the phrase ‘in denial’, usually relating to drug dependence was an interesting way to refer to a relationship between two people.  I tried to fuse seventies folk rock storytelling and harmony in the vein of Joni Mitchell, The Eagles, and Earth Wind and Fire, with the modern R&B / pop sounds of Justin Timberlake, Nick Jonas, and Daft Punk.”

Peter Wise, originally hailing from Boston, MA, now resides in Brooklyn, NY where he writes, records and produces all of his music. In 2012 and 2013, Wise released his debut EP and LP respectively and spent the following years perfecting his sound. Wise has been featured on notable outlets including The Deli Magazine, DJ Booth, The EDM Network, Acid Stag, I Heart Moosiq, and Oblivious Pop. I Heart Moosiq praises Wise for his “balance between soothing electronic atmosphere and acoustic, soulful pop music”. Sharing the stage with the likes of The Eagles, Green River Ordinance and Luke Wade in addition to collaborating with such acts as Chicago and Mali Music, Wise continues to work around the country.
