INTERVIEW: Patrik Jakubowski

Hi Patrik, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hello VENTS! I’m great thank you.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Belonging Wherever”?

Of course! Actually it’s not the latest single, it’s a live version of the song which we released last year. There is however a new single out now called ”Kettle of Water” which you should check out.

Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

I’m always inspired by nature, and this song was no exception. It represents the feeling of a lazy summer drift-around when you feel you could belong wherever. The only company you need is the ocean, the sun and a hungry heart.

How was the film experience?

It was nice, a creative experiment which I made in my home. If you want to repeat it you’ll need a camera, an aquarium and some wild flowers.

How was the recording and writing process?

Most if my songs start with small fragments which I like to play on my guitar. I record demos and try out different melodies and phrases until it feels right. Then I usually let it go for some time and work on other things so that I can come back with fresh ears and adjust the things I’m not satisfied with. ”Belonging Wherever” however was written in a fairly short time. Guess it’s a immediate hit!

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

There is more music waiting to be released shortly. The music is ready and right now I’m in the process of making the video together with Taivas Larriera Mikkola and Emma Nilsson. Two inspiring and creative people which I have done a lot of things with in the past.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

In a month or two the single will be out and the title is ”Healing”.

Any plans to hit the road?

Not at the moment, now the focus is on making and releasing music. But in the nearby future, yes!

What else is happening next in Patrik Jakubowski’s world?

Right now I’m enjoying my summer holiday on the west coast with my family, and besides relaxing and watching the sheep run by I’m also working on some songs with my band ”Riddarna”. We have some great music coming out shortly as well. So you should definitely stay tuned because this fall will be filled with new music!
