We’ve been GREAT! “Stranger Things” on Netlfix has given us life. How are YOU?
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Jumpstart “?
Sure thing! JUMPSTART is one of the first songs we wrote and it’s easily one of our favorites to perform live. Any song that we can squeeze a face-melting mandolin solo into (full props to Justin Goldner) is a song worth sharing in our book.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
Like many songs this one came at the end of what was a really… well, for lack of a better word, crappy relationship. I think we can all agree that love shouldn’t be a competition. This song is about standing back up after you’ve been teared down, and re-finding your confidence and sense of self-love. It’s also a reminder that you better be nice to us or we will write songs about you (menacing laugh).
Any plans to release a video for the single?
Actually…YES!!! We are so excited about it. Our friends Tracy and Caitlin (creators of the web series “Rules of Cool”) came to one of our very first shows and afterwards suggested that we collaborate on a music video. It was a true all-hands-on-deck passion project among friends. We wrapped shooting last week, and what we’ve seen so far is awesome. It should be out by the top of September, and we can’t wait to share it!
Why naming the record after the band?
It’s simple, and that’s why we liked it. This EP is the first time we’re sharing our recorded sound with the world, so we wanted it to be as simple and accessible as possible. It’s called Saint Adeline because we are Saint Adeline…and we’re very happy to meet ya!
How was the recording and writing process?
Writing is always fun. Because we are family we are always open and honest during the writing process. And the recording was nothing less than a dream. Our producer (and friend, and unofficial 4th band member) Justin Goldner arranged and produced the absolute heck out of this record. He brought in some incredible musicians who were willing to play around with us and help us explore our sound. For example, Justin introduced us to the wonder that is Rachel Baiman and Christian Sedelmyer (of 10 String Symphony), and we just happened to catch them here in NY on their one day off in the middle of a marathon tour. We are so grateful that they decided to spend that one day off with us! The entire process was a blast – we’re stoked to share the final product and we can’t wait to get back in the studio for more.
How has your previous musical and acting background have influence this new project?
We think the previous experience we have in the arts, and onstage as performers and writers, has made us better storytellers. The three of us each have so many of the same influences but, by virtue of having spent time developing our independent careers, between us we now bring a lot of different styles to the table which makes things more fun. We’re always growing, always trying new stuff.
What experiences get to inspire the lyrics on this record?
A lot of what made it onto this record was inspired by family, the ups and downs of love or loss, and – perhaps the most impactful lyrical influence on this record – the many ideas and interpretations of self-worth and self-love. The latter is always an important message that we like to give to our fans, or frankly anyone who will listen: love yourself first.
Any plans to hit the road?

What else is happening next in Saint Adeline’s world?
All of September we are doing promotion for the upcoming EP, which will lead up to our EP release concert at Joe’s Pub on September 19th. After that we have a slew of shows booked on both the East and West coasts, plus a lot more writing. And on a personal note, Chloe is headed to London for a semester next Spring! We love to share, so we will keep creating things to share with you all!
