Rising Irish stars Susie Blue have unveiled the powerful video for their new single ‘People Like Us’, which premiered with 1883 Magazine yesterday. The inspiring indie-rock anthem contains a strong message challenging intolerance and hatred in society, particularly in the form of homophobia.
The video echoes these sentiments, featuring scenes of queer-bashing, rescue and acceptance, finishing with a rousing performance by Susie Blue showcasing the captivating tones of lead vocalist Susan Donaghy who explains the video further; “We really wanted the message of the song to hit home through the video, these issues are happening now, people are still being killed and people are still scared to be who they are”.
Young, passionate and fuelled by their love of writing and performing music, Susie Blue consists of Susan (lead vocals, rhythm guitar and synth) and three friends, John Goodman (drums), Caolan Moore (lead guitar) and Mark Doherty (bass).
The band has come together following Susan’s early solo releases under the name Susie Blue such as ‘Trust Me’ and ‘Guess The End’ which also dealt with issues of sexuality, love and hope.
Building up their fan base in Ireland, the band have been playing gigs around the country including appearances at Swell Festival and the Maritime Festival this summer and yesterday they played the opening show of their first ever headline Irish Tour at Echo Echo, Derry. Full details below.
