Factory Flaws presents ACTRESE’s debut “THE MONTH”

“THE MONTH” is the debut single from new name ACTRESE, the London-based songwriter. This melodious and metronomic piece of ambient alternative-pop, which dips into moments of dance and electronic music, is hooked on a refrain of ambient beats. The layered and often simple instrumentation is a pool of calm in comparison to pained words.

Here ACTRESE explains the motivation behind her first official release:

“You know that person in your life that is everything to you, makes you feel extremely safe and at the same time lying to you and controlling every thought you might have and not letting you ask them any questions. A person who then makes you think that you’re the crazy one and you need to change. The month is a relationship song i thought i’d never write. After feeling disconnected with my dreams, thoughts and emotions for a few months, like my whole life was a panic attack, I felt myself again in 30 mins that wrote it. It is my perfect closure and a reminder of my freedom and who I am.”

ACTRESE finds herself drawn to music that makes reality feel cinematic, especially in the realm of live performance. She takes note from Banks’ subtle strength, from Lana Del Rey’s beautiful passion, from Lorde’s ability to wield memorable lyrics. However, the most formative musical influence for ACTRESE is Bastille, who broke through the haze of disillusionment to push this artist’s own creativity. In her own words, “Their music got me through a very difficult and miserable time in my life filling out the silence and emptiness around me.” This transformative moment in ACTRESE’s life reignited her love for music and without hesitation she left school, moved to London and began songwriting in earnest.

ACTRESE is currently working on her debut EP.
