Tiana: Hi Vents! Thanks for having us! Been doing great! Things are getting busy which is always exciting for us!
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Living A Lie”?
T: Sure! We are very proud and excited to finally share this song with our fans! It’s a song that we hope resonates with people who are at a fearful crossroads in their life.
S: “Living A Lie” is a driving and very upbeat song. It asks the listener, ‘Are you living the way you really want to?’. It’s a really fun listen, and we think you’ll agree!
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
S: That particular story is Tiana’s to share since she wrote the lyrics.
T: I kept hearing ‘living a lie’ used in songs, shows, conversations but never extended upon that really hit on nerve with me.. I was in a place in my life where I felt that I was stuck and just going through the motions of everyday life all while I was trying to become a musician. When it came down to it, I realized that I was letting defeat and fear drag me away from who I wanted to be.
S: Just generally speaking though ‘Am I doing the things I want to do?’ Is a question that we ask ourselves all the time, it’s not something you can exactly stop yourself from doing. You don’t need specific experiences in order to relate to the song.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
S: Yes! We just released a lyric video for the single! Keep track of our social media pages, and our official website www.varnarocks.com for more new music!
How was the recording and writing process?
T: The recording process went great. Besides my nerves in the studio, I was the most confident in ‘Living A Lie.’ It took me 3 years to perfect and was always named a fan favorite at our live shows, it really connected with people. This is the song that I am most proud of as a songwriter to date.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
T: Yes! We are releasing only singles this time around, so keep your ears and eyes open.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
T: Our lips are sealed 🙂
Would all the songs deal with bad relations?
S: No, in fact I don’t feel that any of the songs deal with bad relations. This EP really deals with personal struggle, desire, and doubts.
Any plans to hit the road?
S: Yes there are, we’ll be hitting some areas in the southwest and the Deep South this October!
What else is happening next in VARNA’s world?
S: Focusing on new material for next year, preparing for our dates which includes Anne Rice’s Midnight in the Savage Garden of Blood and Evil Ball in New Orleans, Headlining Wild Fest in Tucson and spreading the word about ‘Living A Lie’!
