Hi Michael, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Thanks one million! I’m doing as good as ever.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Double Dealing”?

Yes. Its the fourth song off of the EP. Its my first single. Its a steady groove with a dark undertone.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

Not one specifically. Some of my songs are results of interactions that I have had with friends, or by observation. They can be very inspiring. Most often when they’re not trying to be.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

I would certainly like to. Filming is something I’ve really enjoyed experimenting with in the past. I’ll say maybe just to keep us on our toes.

The single comes off your new album Personas – what’s the story behind the title?

Well, there’s this great quote by Kurt Vonnegut that goes, “Be careful who you pretend to be, because you are who you pretend to be.” At least similar to that. So I took my time trying to stay genuine to what I was feeling at the present moment and how I wanted to portray it.

How was the recording and writing process?

The writing was very fluid. I recorded everything at home with what equipment I had accumulated over the years. Incredibly basic stuff. The mixing was a marathon for me, but I’ve learned a lot and I’m much more comfortable with my own processes now.

Known for experiment with different style – does one genre tends to shine out the most depending on the lyrics’ theme?

Not particularly. I try my best not to place anything because I don’t want to overlook any ideas as a result of preconceptions.

What aspects of hypocrisy did you get to explore with this record?

That’s a good question. Its weird having it called PERSONAS and feeling so exposed at the same time. A lot of it is more about looking through peoples’ personas and making a connection despite differences or negativity that may be on display.

Any plans to hit the road?

Oh yes. I’m dying to get out and play more. The group is finally coming together and we’re eager to start.

What else is happening next in Mucklo’s world?

Many shows, much recording, and more projects.
