Teeth & Tongue (Jess Cornelius) shares “Turn Turn Turn” – album on Dot Dash / Captured Tracks out Sept 2

Teeth & Tongue hits us with a madly addictive second single “Turn Turn Turn” which showcases Jess Cornelius’ most brilliant songwriting and shift into the realm of PJ Harvey or Kate Bush’s ‘Hounds of Love’.  Listen now via FADER who’ve debuted.

New Zealand born and Melbourne-based Teeth & Tongue returns with her boldest album to date. On the heels of a breakup, Cornelius retired to remote Iceland on a three-month Nes Artist Residency, where she wrote a lot of material like the heartbreaking ‘Small Towns’. But after returning to Melbourne, where Cornelius brought the material to the band: guitarist Marc Regueiro-McKelvie, bassist Damian Sullivan and drummer James Harvey; things took a turn. Unlike 2014’s more ambient Grids, in which the vocals were textured and layered, here they’re dominant over a grid of ’70s electronica.

Cornelius has crafted kitchen-sink dramas and relationship vignettes that follow a lineage from Ken Loach through Jarvis Cocker. Even in her darkest hour, Jess can’t help but rule with a pop aesthetic.

After storming Australia with her last album, touring with Courtney Barnett on her 2016 tour and garnering critical acclaim from the likes of Triple R, Rolling Stone, The Guardian, etc., Teeth & Tongue return with Give Up On Your Health.  The album was co-produced by Haima Marriott (Architecture in Helsinki, Banoffee), whose knowledge of vintage synths came in handy when referencing Daft Punk and Giorgio Moroder. It sees its U.S. release this September 2 on Dot Dash / Captured Tracks.
