Brooklyn-based pop-soul artist, Peter Wise, premiered his new single “Denial” today! Fans can head over to Pancakes And Whiskey for an exclusive first listen of the track now, here: http://bit.ly/2at6vrM. When asked about “Denial”, Wise said: “‘Denial’ is a song about the push and pull of a relationship on the ropes, two people who can live with each other and can’t live without. The end of the hook, ‘‘Cause life’s too short to be alone in the wild, we’re in denial’, is really the crux of the song, the fear of being alone. I thought the phrase ‘in denial’, usually relating to drug dependence was an interesting way to refer to a relationship between two people. I tried to fuse seventies folk rock storytelling and harmony in the vein of Joni Mitchell, The Eagles, and Earth Wind and Fire, with the modern R&B / pop sounds of Justin Timberlake, Nick Jonas, and Daft Punk.” In addition, Wise is excited to announce his record release show at Bowery Electric. Doors will be at 8pm and Wise will be hitting the stage at 10pm with support from Prints of Monaco as well as Kamilah earlier in the night. Last month, Wise released “Sweet Solitude”exclusively on Surviving The Golden Age! This was the first track from his upcoming EP, slated for release this Fall. Fans can check out the track now, here: http://bit.ly/28MFYWJ. When asked about the new single, Wise said: “‘Sweet Solitude’ is a song about the desperation at the end of a relationship, when you know a relationship has run its course but you are holding on to what was. I really tried to draw on great soul singers like Ray Charles and Marvin Gaye to create a gospel inspired sound and longing mixed with desire. Artists like the aforementioned, D’Angelo, Prince, and Miguel are big inspirations for this record. It’s really a song about facing reality, coming to terms with finality, in whatever form that takes.”
Peter Wise, originally hailing from Boston, MA, now resides in Brooklyn, NY where he writes, records and produces all of his music.
