COMMUNIONS Announce 7″ + Premiere New Song

Copenhagen by way of Seattle four-piece Communions recently signed to Fat Possum Records, and today they announce their first release on the label. “Don’t Hold Anything Back”/”Eternity” 7-inch will be out on September 16th and right now Stereogum – who dubbed the band one of the best new artists of 2015 – are streaming the A-side single. With frontman Martin Rehof‘s vocals soaring over melodic guitar riffs, “Don’t Hold Anything Back” is an immediately infectious and exciting return from these Danish exports. Listen to “Don’t Hold Anything Back” HERE and pre-order the 7-inch HERE or HERE.

Communions are touring throughout Europe/UK next month with Sunflower Bean. See below to find a show near you and get your tickets HERE.

Communions – made up of brothers Martin and Mads Rehof and high school friends Jacob van Deurs Formann and Frederik Lind Köppen – began in 2014, releasing their debut EP Cobblestones on Posh Isolation, which was followed by a 7-inch and EP on Tough Love Records. These releases, as well as the forthcoming 7-inch, precede the band’s anticipated debut album and showcase Communions’ distinctive sound full of transcendent melodies, delicate guitar lines and emotive pop-leaning rock songs.

The quartet came together at Mayhem, a storied local rehearsal space where most of Copenhagen’s new punk, industrial and synth scene originates and where Denmark contemporaries Iceage also rehearse. However, the comparison between these Danish peers end there – whereas Iceage take their cues from hardcore, Communions do so from the type of British post punk and indie pop typified by Creation Records. The band has a sound all their own, earning themselves the title of “Copenhagen’s cheeriest band” by The FADER.

Communions are: Martin Rehof (vocal and guitar), Mads Rehof (bass), Jacob van Deurs Formann (guitar) and Frederik Lind Köppen (drums). Their debut album is in the works and is expected to be released in 2017. Watch this space for more: www.communions.dk
