Okasian (pronounced “occasion”) releases the music video for single, “Get That Money.” Check it out here. The visual is the second installment of the Last Orcas, a summer release series featuring both original music and videos from South Korean creative collective, The Cohort, which includes Keith Ape, JayAllDay, Bryan Cha$e and more. The name The Last Orcas is inspired by fashion Q&A series of Fujiwara Hiroshi’s “Last Orgy” and Nigo of Bape’s “Last Orgy 2.”
As featured on Noisey, Hypetrak, Be-Street and Highsnobiety, the first from the series was the video for “Underwater Bank,” and it featured Okasian, Keith Ape and Bryan Cha$e on the cliffs by the Pacific coast. The Cohort have been on top of the South Korean rap game ever since the group’s viral hit single, “It G Ma,” which has garnered over 23 million views on YouTube.
On “Get That Money,” his first original track of 2016, Okasian reflects on the double-edged sword to fame: the glamorous, wealthy side and the one that carries the heavy burden of the sacrifices that come with it. Sonically, “Okasian’s style bridges the gap between contemporary American and Asian rap landscapes, producing a sound that, while heavily tinged by the genre’s Stateside forefathers, preserves an authentic rawness that’s strongly rooted in the rapper’s Korean ethnicity.” (Highsnobiety)
The video for “Get That Money” is the latest from 88 Rising, a brand new media platform and imagination factory dedicated to celebrating global Asian culture.
