The Black Queen, the LA-based, sinister synth-pop trio who pair their music with dystopian imagery, release the video for “Secret Scream” (https://youtu.be/MLMbFoYzXgY), the fifth clip accompanying their 10-song album Fever Daydream.
“The video isn’t meant to have a linear narrative, but to seem like more of an abstract memory,” Greg Puciato explains. “A smear filled with recollections of lust and terror, elation and dread. The middle of the song is a representation of that middle of the night intoxication with and fear of the void, the temptation of that and the feeling of being on the brink of the unknown.”
“Secret Scream” was filmed in the skid row/fashion district area of downtown Los Angeles, the birthplace for the band’s recordings, who recorded Fever Daydream in a nearby loft. Self-directed, the clip serves as a companion piece to “Maybe We Should” (https://youtu.be/lk_THjuJ6dg).
A four-track single for “Secret Scream” is available now with a highly limited (466 copies) engraved black vinyl version, as well as a WAV download, available via Bandcamp (
