Jade & Velvet invites you the FASt FORWARD charity fundraiser: Spring Breakfast on Sat 3 September at Bloemendal Winefarm, Durbanville

In the spirit of renewal and rejuvenation, fashion retailer Jade & Velvet invites you to their “MAKE THE DIFFERENCE” breakfast to raise funds for the FASt Forward Fund – a charity initiative that provides support for children who suffer from Alcohol Syndrome (FAS).  A lovely buffet breakfast will be served. The MC will be Helene Truter (Tannie Poppie from Vetkoekpaleis) and guest speaker Margaret Steyn (Clinical Psychologist) will give an informative talk on the subject of mindfulness. The band Rocking Horse will provide some great music and Jade & Velvet will also showcase some of their latest clothing ranges in a fashion parade.  A morning of fun and inspiration awaits!

The FASt Forward Fund differs from other funds like the FAITH Fund.  While the FAITH Fund concentrates on educating expectant mothers on the dangers of using alcohol during pregnancy, FASt-Forward focuses on providing equestrian therapy for youngsters suffering from the effects of the illness.

Horse riding has been proven to be an excellent form of therapy for individuals with special needs.  It improves balance, posture, muscle tone and joint flexibility, as well as developing attention span, reasoning, memory and other cognitive functions.  By working with programmes like Equitots, the FASt Forward Fund gives FAS sufferers access to this excellent form of therapy.

Appropriately the band Rocking Horse will be performing at the event. Clive Ridgway says:

“When our friends Susan and Magda approached us to participate in a fundraising event for children with FAS, it brought to mind a song we had recently recorded called ‘Make The Difference’.  The underlying rationale of this little song is that we all have the power to make a difference.  While few of us are in a position to change the world, all of us are in a position to change the world around us.”

To celebrate their 30th year as a band Tony, Barry and Clive teamed up with original Rocking Horse bass player Julian Mayer and long time musical associate, keyboardist Tony Drake, to record a brand new album.  Titled ‘Highway Going Nowhere’, the new album contains 10 original songs written and produced by Clive and Tony.  Songs on the album cover topical and relatable issues that are of real significance today.  They will perform a selection of songs from their back catalogue, a few tracks from their new record, plus the fundraiser theme song ‘Make The Difference’.
