Acclaimed Australian singer-songwriter, Matt Gresham, makes his UK debut this summer with the release of his new single ‘Small Voices’ out now on his own label, Trigger Records. Listen here
Lead by Matt’s soulful vocal, ‘Small Voices’ impresses with its minimal bassline and sophisticated electronic flourishes. “Small Voices is a song that speaks straight to my soul” says Matt. “It means a lot of things but basically it reflects how we all trap ourselves in prisons. Whether it’s literal or psychologically.” On Australian release earlier this year, the track debuted at Number15 in Spotify’sAU Viral Chart, with Rolling Stone praising Matt’s vocal as a “balance of regret and determination” and concluding the song is “equal parts anthemic and reflective.”
‘Small Voices’ was recorded with Scott Horscroft (Birds of Tokyo, Silverchair) and co-written by Jaymes Young (London Grammar, David Guetta). And don’t miss the heart-breaking accompanying video, directed by Paste Studios, telling the story of a young girl’s solitary life, longing for family. Beautifully shot in a rural Australian landscape, the video was filmed in a home that has not been touched since the 70s and has helped the track reach close to half a million streams since release – Watch it here.
