Ethan Burns Premieres New Single “22 Knots”

Today, via a premiere on PopMatters.com, Ethan Burns released “22 Knots”, the second single from his upcoming debut EP due out September 30th on Fairfax Recordings. “22 Knots” is a “brooding tale of my youth” as Ethan describes it. The track perfectly captures a ‘night on the beach’ aesthetic that is intimately familiar to the 25-year-old troubadour having grown up in the Central Coast region of California. You can stream the track now on Soundcloud.

Other than the occasional few bars of the blues he would catch coming from the garage while his father worked on the family car, Ethan Burns was brought up exclusively on gospel music.  At the age of thirteen, Ethan got his first glimpse of rock & roll when he caught the video for Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” on television. Over the next few days, he would learn to play the song by sight alone; no small feat for a young man who had only recently picked up a guitar. That natural proclivity for songwriting is something Ethan still exercises today, often flipping through the radio and learning new songs by ear upon first listen.

“22 Knots” is the second single from Ethan, with “Homeward” premiering last month on Consequence of Sound and subsequently reaching #6 on Hype Machine. Both tracks will appear on his debut EP, which is out September 30th on Fairfax Recordings.
