PREMIERE: Words and Noises Stream New Single “Rewind”

Reminiscent of acts such as James Blunt and Damien Rice, VENTS alumni Words & Noise are back with their latest new single “Rewind” off their new album The Collector. The release follows up preview single ‘Play Your Cards’, released earlier this year and also included on the new E.P. It received critical acclaim and regional radio support.

The band comments “It’s quite a simple song, lyrically – I’ve tried to capture the feeling of meeting someone new and having all sorts of thoughts going through your mind, not knowing how to read and respond to situations, that kind of thing. The lyrics are probably the most straightforward on the EP – I wanted the focus to be on the melody; it has a lovely viola and piano line and a big chorus. Hopefully people will respond to it, I think it’s one of our strongest, most memorable songs.”

“It’s been a long time in the making – ‘Rewind’, ‘Play Your Cards’ and ‘Desperation’ are probably the best three songs I’ve written in the two years since the last EP. ‘The Morning After’ is a bit older but I’ve updated it quite a bit, it’s always been one of my favourite songs that I’ve never recorded in the studio. We spent a lot more time recording, mixing and mastering these songs, so hopefully it sounds a lot more polished and professional – we’re very pleased with the results!”

‘The Collector’ was recorded by Tim Thomas at Manchester’s renowned Blueprint Studio, home of Elbow, and was mastered by Andy Walter at the legendary Abbey Road Studio in London.

Words & Noises will be performing a series of shows alongside the release of their new music. They have confirmed a concert at the Acoustica night Apotheca in the Northern Quarter, Manchester, on Monday 8th August, with more dates to be confirmed shortly.
