Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Thanks for having us. We are very good and happy to be here.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “A M U S E D”?

Amused feels like the perfect second single after our debut song Gravity. The track is more uplifting and more positive/hopeful in the sound and the lyrics. It’s a song to get in the car, get out there and experience life in its best moments.

Amused describes those very first moments when meeting someone who just makes you forget the world. Everyone knows that feeling and tension, making you want to break out and feel alive. When writing the song we tried to wrap all our personal and individual stories into one, both in the lyrics and in sound.

Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

Since we write our songs together as a band we always try to wrap up all of our individual stories in our songs. Often each one of us has totally different interpretations of the same song.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

We just finished the video production for Amused last week in Budapest, Hungary. We worked again with Christian Lamb who also directed our short film for gravity. We have a similar approach for this video but we don’t want to tell too much yet.  We are very excited to release it in the upcoming weeks.

The single comes off your new album F O R L O V E – what’s the story behind the title?

The title brings together several stories we wanted to express with that album. First off, we wanted to give our band name a more in depth meaning. Today’s fast changing society is constantly looking for more and more while having problems to actually see where to go and where you are. At the same time people are not happy with their lives. We wanted to express that in our album title. In the end we all just want to be accepted, live in peace and be loved. On the other side the main topic of this album is love. We wrote some fictive characters along with our songs and also put a lot of personal experiences into it.

How was the recording and writing process?

In the very beginning we had troubles finding the right sound for our new project. It took us quite a while to develop the direction we wanted to go as artists and songwriters. At first, this project was rather meant to be a songwriter collective. We hadn’t planned to perform those songs on stage. We just wanted to write songs together having the vision to write cinematic soundtracks and synth music. After a while we realized this project needs to be performed live and we really want to play those songs ourselves.

What does the separation between words stands for?

It´s actually a hidden message supporting our album title – standing for our separated society and our individual, egoistic culture. But we also really like the style.

What was it like to work with Dan Weller and how did that relationship develop?

Working with Dan Weller feels very natural and comfortable to us which is probably the most important thing in the creative process. We´ve already known him for some years since we have worked together on prior projects. He became a very good friend and it is always amazing to work with him.

Does Vienna play a role in your music?

It definitely does. That’s where we come from and your hometown always influences your personality and your artistic work. Vienna is an incredible city providing so much culture and history and every year it is also rated the most livable city in the world. We feel very comfortable and confident working here on our music.

Your music is very cinematic – any particular film or film composer inspire you as an artist?

When we write songs we always have a big screen with movies running on silent. It really helps us to get in right zone and feel the songs. On this record we used movies such as: Drive, Requiem For A Dream, The Notebook and many more. In general, we love film music and composers such as Clint Mansell, Alexandre Desplat or the famous Hans Zimmer.

Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?

Like we just said we love to write songs together. It’s one of the best feelings in the world when you write music together with your best mates. We feel very inspired to write music in general. For this record we wanted to combine dark pop/rock with that cinematic touch and sound.

Any plans to hit the road?

We just had our US live debut last week in Louisville, Kentucky and are currently planning US tour dates for this fall. We’ll be releasing news very soon on our socials.

What else is happening next in H U N G E R’s world?

The next bigger milestone is definitely our album release on August 19 and then we’ll see what time brings. We will probably move to the US for a while to promote the record and also play live.
