This year’s concert was 100% solar powered on the largest solar powered stage in the country and all attendees had access to free water refilling station to eliminate single use plastic on the beach. Children from a local school that received grants from VH1 Save the Music Foundation joined SWITCHFOOT on stage, and nearly 100 children from local youth charities received free surf lessons and a VIP concert experience.

The BRO-AM kicked off with the BRO-AM Benefit Party hosted by ViaSat on Friday, July 8th, gathering philanthropists and friends for an evening of local food and drinks, silent/live auctions and live performances.

Since the inaugural BRO-AM in 2005, SWITCHFOOT has raised over one million dollars for San Diego-based youth charities through funds from vendors at the free beach event, corporate surf team entries, sponsorships and a pre-event Benefit Party and online auction open to fans around the world. “Because these new songs mean so much to us, we wanted to find the perfect place to unveil them,” said Jon Foreman. “We all came to the same conclusion – the only place to release these songs would be in our own hometown on our favorite day of the year: at the 12th annual SWITCHFOOT BRO-AM! This is a dream come true: to share our new album with our community first.”

SWITCHFOOT has sold 5.7 million copies worldwide of their nine studio albums (including 2003’s The Beautiful Letdown and 2009’s GRAMMY Award-winning Hello Hurricane). Where The Light Shines Through was produced in collaboration with John Fields, who helmed the multi-platinum breakthrough The Beautiful Letdown. PRESS HERE to purchase Where the Light Shines Through via iTunes and PRESS HERE to purchase via Amazon Music.

SWITCHFOOT consists of Jon Foreman (vocals, guitar), Tim Foreman (bass), Jerome Fontamillas (keys, guitar), Drew Shirley (guitar) and Chad Butler (drums).
