Detroit’s Mayaeni has been embracing soulful rock as long as she can remember. It began when her father, also a musician, started playing her Jimmy Hendrix, Bob Dylan and Chuck Berry records at a very early age. Later wondering why there wasn’t a black female John Mayer or Gary Clark Jr., she has decided to become it herself.
The Roc Nation artist is releasing her new Elocution EP this Friday. “Elocution is the study and practice of oral delivery, including the control of both voice and gesture,” explained Mayaeni. “This is EP is my Elocution.”
