Cymbal, the internet’s most influential music community, has unveiled a new 2.0 version alongside a brand new Android app which was announced at Google I/O 2016 as part of the Play Store’s “Early Access” program.
A taste of what’s new:
- Hashtags are communities. Find like-minded listeners by following a hashtag like #indie or #chancetherapper. These crowdsourced playlists are fanclubs for anything, and are constantly re-sorted for popularity. Plus, the app pushes the top song from any hashtag you follow to your feed like a new friend who always has the inside hook on the music you love.
- Trending songs. Check the Explore tab to see what songs are being shared most now globally. Watch top songs fly up this crowdsourced chart as listeners catch on, and stay on the cutting edge of new music.
- Listen to everything. Any group of songs, anywhere on the app, is playable as a playlist, so the empty state of our new player encourages you to listen to whatever you’re looking at in sequence.
- A makeover. 2.0 prioritizes exposing listening, conversations, and interactions. Cymbal’s new unified player and tab bar is one-of-a-kind.
