“Ultimately, I want to create a community sharing the mindset I express through my music” says singer/songwriter and producer XamVolo. “First I’ve got to set the scene and show people the full spectrum of what I represent creatively.”
Aged just 22, XamVolo has written, produced and arranged his forthcoming ‘Chirality EP’. The release demonstrates a level of maturity far beyond Xam’s years and its brooding, eclectic mixture of Jazz and Soul over hypnotic beats brings to mind contemporaries such as Anderson Paak and Hiatus Kaiyote, firmly establishing Xam as a true artist and one who oversees every single element of his music, which he describes as resembling “a messy mind over raw, dark jazz grooves”.
The four track collection, with its wide ranging mix of influences and uniquely contemporary, commanding sounds, firmly positions XamVolo as one of the most exciting new talents around. He is currently one of Annie Mac’s ‘New Names’ for June and has been gathering plays from key tastemakers Huw Stephens, Julie Adenuga, Mistajam, DJ Target and Radio X’s John Kennedy.
XamVolo is currently working on his debut album with Frank Ocean’s Channel Orange producers; Paul Phamous and Malay.
