Art Rock Outfit, Late Sea, Cover Paul Simon’s “Sound of Silence”‏

NYC-based art rock outfit, Late Sea, announce their cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s timeless tune, “Sound of Silence.” The trio add a new interpretation to the hit song, adding dimensions of intensity and depth that are not as dominant in the original release. Listen here

The trio consists of Izzy Gliksberg (vocals, piano, guitar), Sam Nester (trumpet, keyboard) and Joe Peri (drums, percussion). Coming from all different corners of the world, Gliksberg from Israel, Nester from Australia and Peri from the States, the three met while studying at the Manhattan School of Music and came together to form Late Sea. Their highly anticipated release, The Writers Trilogy, is an audio-visual project initiated by the group’s vocalist, Gliksberg, who later teamed up with Brooklyn-based film production company, NOKA Productions, and producer Yoav Shemesh, to conceptualize the online EP. Receiving The Kevin Spacey Foundation 2015 Artist of Choice grant, as well as support from the America Israel Culture Foundation, The Writers Trilogy is composed of three separate music-films and one longer work, combining the three and illuminating their connection. The work reflects on the place of God in a godless world and the emptiness of the millennial freedom through variations on themes from the legacy and literary work of predominant 20th century writers, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Franz Kafka and Paul Celan.

Late Sea is making 2016 their breakthrough year. Check out their emotionally charged cover of “Sound of Silence” and stay tuned for the long awaited music-film hybrid, The Writers Trilogy.
