Accomplished actor, musician and dancer, sixteen year-old Kolton Stewart is officially entering the Canadian music scene with his debut single “Context” (now available via iTunes). Co-written with Matthew Tishler (Ashley Tisdale, Jason Derulo), Phil Bentley (Christina Aguilera, Jordin Sparks) and Jesse Weeks, “Context” is a contagious summer track with a pure pop sound and modern RnB feel, combined with a catchy chorus.
“I am so excited for the release of Context as I feel like this song really depicts who I am as an artist. The song has a Justin Timberlake, The Weeknd, and Bruno Mars feel with a catchy hook that will hopefully stay in people’s heads! I feel like this song is perfect for the summer as you can’t help but put a smile on your face when listening to it,” said Kolton.
Best known for his starring role playing Jarvis Raines on the hit YTV Canada and Netflix series Some Assembly Required, where he also sang the show’s theme song “Here We Go”, the Ontario native began displaying his musical talents at the tender age of four. He found himself in the spotlight when he was invited to appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show at the age of thirteen where he sang Jason Mraz’s “I Won’t Give Up.”
No rookie in the acting department, Kolton has also appeared in the TV teen dance drama The Next Step and supernatural medical drama Saving Hope. Along with his TV experience he has held roles in the films My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 (2016), Angels In The Snow (2015), and I Declare War (2012).
Inspired by the greats: Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, The Monkees and Elton John, Kolton also looks up to today’s top artists like Justin Timberlake, Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars and John Mayer. Growing up in a musical family, Kolton is also a talented percussionist, guitarist, bassist, and keyboardist.
“Context” was recorded and produced by Matthew Tishler at his studio in L.A.
