Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
Smashing, thanks.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Disappear”; did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?
Perhaps… We’d rather not say.

Any plans to release a video for the single?
Yep, we’re releasing the video in a few weeks time. We went for a pretty dark theme with the video. It’s very much a reflection on the self and the struggles of self identity. We both relate to the song in different ways but it’s a song that anyone should be able to tap into pretty easily. Rather than explaining the context behind it, it’s better to absorb what you like from it. It was great to film though. We filmed with a fantastic videographer called Patrick Mateer. We literally ventured round Leeds with masks on looking a bit odd and slightly sinister, but that’s the vibe we wanted. Even if we did weird people out.

How was the recording and writing process?
Aeris started things off by initially bringing the idea of Disappear to the table. She had ideas for lyrics along with the general story behind it which we then worked into something we both related to. We recorded at Greenmount Studios in Leeds. It’s our favourite place to record. The guys at the studio are almost like extra members of the band, they know exactly what we need every time. Jamie’s also pretty good at Forensic Art…

What role does Horror play in your music?
Horror plays a certain part in our writing but we wouldn’t say it inspires everything we do. We’ve written songs before based on horror films and make up a load of brutal stories but it’s because we think it’s fun. We like making up stories as it sort of acts as a form of escapism and release from reality. There’s a horror vibe generally in our sound which we wouldn’t class as metal, doom or even heavy rock, it’s kind of turned into a mix of them all which we class as Sister Doom, which is another story in itself really.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
You can definitely expect more material. We’ve already recorded most of it. It’s been brewing for a while but just needs it’s extra touches. The rest of the album follows pretty similar themes.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?
The release date of Disappear is the 5th August.

Any plans to hit the road?
We’re playing BBC Humberside on the 20th July and having our single launch in Verve Bar Leeds for Disappear on the 30th July. Vulgarians and Echoic are supporting us on the night. They’re a couple of fantastic bands. On the 30th June we’re playing Futuresound for the chance to play Reading and Leeds festivals which would be pretty sweet. We’re also venturing out to Manchester, York, London and Somerset, although there’s plenty more dates to announce as we’re playing a fair few festivals.

What else is happening next in CHAMBERS’ world?
At the moment we’re concentrating on this single, but the next stop is finishing our album. It’s something we’re both really proud of. We have a heap of shows, interviews and live sessions we’re doing over the next few months and constantly adding to our sound so at the moment we’re just really appreciative of the support we’re getting so far, it’s been pretty crazy. But we like crazy.
